Description

Siberian ginseng and the Latin name Eleutherococcus senticosus are also found in stores as eleutero ginseng. It is native to the southeastern forests of Russia, northern China, Japan and Korea and usually grows to a height of 4.5 m. Its root is used for medicinal purposes. As with the Korean variety, the use of Siberian ginseng dates back thousands of years. In China, it is used not only for energy but also for the treatment of inflammatory processes. However, its popularity lagged far behind American and Korean ginseng.

The healing effects of Siberian ginseng were rediscovered in the 1940s and can be attributed to Berkhman, a Russian doctor. He called for revitalization and balancing, and immunostimulatory and stress-neutralizing properties collectively known as adaptogenic effects. He discovered that despite the different content of active ingredients, the healing effects of Korean and Siberian ginseng are somewhat similar.
