Indole 3 carbinol its effect on estrogen and female breast cancer

4 minutes, 0 seconds Read

Indole 3 carbinol or I3C is obtained by decomposition (enzymatic hydrolysis) of glucosarsicon glucosinate (a sulfur-containing compound), predominantly found in leafy vegetables. These are cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, and prosciutto.

I3C is a volatile compound, and most of it is converted to indole carbazole ICZ and diindolylmethane or DIM when found in the intestines. These two compounds, including I3C, are absorbed into the bloodstream, and all three are active in acting on the body, separately or together, in the true sense of the word. Currently, research on Smoke is on the rise, with some indications from oncology researchers that its action is the most potent and, at the same time, the easiest to regulate the dose when consumed. This compound has shown excellent anti-tumor mechanisms by regulating estrogens’ activity in the body. The chemotherapeutic and anti-tumor activity of indole 3 carbinol depends on the type and type of tissue.

What is estrogen ?

Estrogen is a hormone necessary for breast growth in women and the development of important organs for childbirth, such as the uterus and ovaries. It is essential when controlling a woman’s menstrual cycle. It also affects bone and heart health.
In other words, an estrogen is a group of hormones. One of these hormones is alpha 16 (or estradiol). Despite its vital role in the female body, the body’s exposure to this hormone after a long time can cause cancerous disease breast cancer. How is that possible? Estrogen affects estrogen receptors (ER) and plays a vital role in breast cancer development and growth. 16 alpha or estradiol binds to cellular receptors and causes problems within cells such as lowering oxygen levels, intensifying sodium levels, and amplifying growth signals. Thus, it is essential to understand how estrogen affects the body and how the chemical elements in the environment can affect estrogen levels and how some nutritional elements and lifestyle can affect estrogen exposure throughout life. It is essential to know how to treat breast cancer women. One of the treatments can be improved by using indole 3 carbinol.

I3C and its anti-cancer effects

I3C and DIM show their anticancer properties through anti-estrogenic activity. They interfere with and restore estrogen-induced cancers, where estradiol binds to cellular receptors causing many disorders within cells. They also changed the form of estrogen from aggressive to its weaker form. These two compounds are known to regulate binding protein and adjust estrogen receptors. This prevents estradiol from binding to the cell membrane while leaving the cell intact. This process is the same for both men and women, including breast cancer and prostate. I3C helps 16 alpha hormone be converted to the less destructive form of 20HE1 estrone when it binds to cellular receptors. DIM successfully restores the p21 gene and thus stops replicating the DNA of malignant cells. It prevents cancer from spreading and developing. DIM also prevents HIF-1 alpha while reducing capillaries’ formation to supply cancer with blood.
Studies have shown that Indole 2 Carbinol reduces the growth of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer by 90% while in estrogen-receptor negative cells by 50%. Tamoxifen, the previous drug until I3C appeared, decreased by 60% in a similar initial test but had no success in the second test. After reducing estrogen metabolism, the artificial product Tamoxifen is also a carcinogen and can trigger cancer growth. It is also associated with breast cancer development and other types of cancer such as prostate cancer and endometrial cancer. Chemicals, including some estrogen mimics, produce this drug. I3C reduces these metabolites and converts them back to 20HE1, a much safer method.

Effects of I3C on estrogen metabolism

Endogenous estrogen 17 beta-estradiol can be broken down into hydroxy estrone 16OH1 or 2-hydroxy estrone 2OHE1. While 16OHE1 is highly estrogenic and has been shown to stimulate the development of several lines of estrogen-sensitive cancers, 20HE1 is less estrogenic. The theory that changes the metabolism of 17 beta-estradiol from 16OH1 to 2OHE1 may reduce the risk of estrogenic cancer types has been promoted in recent research. Oral administration of 300 to 400 mg daily of I3C gradually amplified urinary 2OHE1 levels or the urinary ratio of 2OHE1: 16OHE1 in controlled clinical trials in women. Supplementation with 108 mg of DIM daily also showed increased urinary 2OHE1 levels after menopause. The relationship between urinary size and breast cancer risk is still unclear. Women with breast cancer have a lower urinary 2OHE1: 16OHE1 ratio has been proven in control studies. Side effects of I3C

There have been reports of skin rashes in some patients after taking I3C. Abdominal pain, Increased liver enzymes, and nausea are some of the side effects of I3C. This preparation should be used in the ratio provided by its intake in a normal diet. An expert should supervise the user.
