Buttock lift or gluteoplasty. This procedure requires the removal of excess skin in the area of the buttocks. The buttocks area is lifted and excess skin is removed, to give it a slimmer and more moderate look. To lift the buttocks, an incision is needed on the upper buttocks and partially on the hips to remove excess skin and lift the rest. Liposuction can also be used to contour the buttocks for a well-balanced appearance. When lifting, the operation tends to flatten the buttocks, so a procedure has been developed to maintain and even emphasize the curvature of the buttocks using natural tissue. The procedure is known as Sozer Flap, which is described later.
Candidates for buttocks lifting
- The best candidate for this procedure is a patient who has excess skin on the buttocks and is looking for an enlargement or rounding of the buttocks. And you could be a good candidate if:
- He has significant sagging skin, excess skin and a relaxed buttocks.
- Don’t smoke. Smoking slows down the healing process and increases the risk of serious complications during and after surgery. If you smoke, you must stop smoking at least six weeks before surgery.
- He has realistic expectations
- You are in good general health and do not suffer from chronic diseases, such as diabetes or heart disease. People who are not in good health are not eligible and you would need to get a plastic surgery authorization from your primary care physician.
Options and combination for buttock augmentation
Buttock augmentation is similar to breast augmentation. Not all patients require an elevator and not all patients require an increase, however, if an increase is needed, you have several options.
Lifting the buttocks requires removing excess skin and does not necessarily enlarge that part of the body. Some options that can be included in a butt lift may include:
Fat injections
The most common is the Brazilian butt lifter, which uses cultured and transferred fat to increase that area.
Buttock implants

This procedure uses the patient’s tissues to create a “living implant” that enlarges the buttocks and improves its shape. There are no additional incisions in this procedure, because the incision for lifting the buttocks is used for enlargement. This procedure is great for patients who do not have enough mastitis transferred to the buttocks.
Buttock recovery
Two drains will be introduced; One in each buttocks, to avoid the accumulation of fluid in that area. Drainage is normal for this procedure and the amount varies from person to person. The drain is usually removed during the first postoperative examination (3-5 days); However, if the drainage is still excessive, it can stay a little longer.
Like the Brazilian elevator, you can sit on your buttocks right after the operation. Because of the swelling and bruising after the operation, it may not fit in the clothes you normally wear. To promote proper healing, you will need to wear special clothing over the treated areas for four to six weeks. Compression garments serve several purposes: they help reduce swelling and are necessary for the process of contouring. Swelling and bruising usually disappear within a few weeks, when you can return to normal clothes. The best results will be visible 3-6 months after the procedure.
Depending on the occupation, most patients can return to work within 5-10 days with some restrictions.
